The Compliance Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring adherence to all relevant HUD, state agency, and tax credit regulations concerning tenant occupancy, recertifications, and tax credit matters. This position involves direct interaction with HUD and state agencies regarding Section 8 contract renewals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for Tax Credit Properties.
- Compile Company Occupancy Reports on a weekly basis for properties and owners.
- Evaluate and provide feedback on recertification move-in packages at tax credit properties.
- Develop training materials and assist in allocating training costs to participating properties.
- Conduct site visits as necessary to support onsite staff with occupancy and compliance issues.
- Participate in educational seminars focused on tax credit compliance and affordable housing.
- Oversee the timely completion of annual recertifications across all sites and notify the Regional Manager of any potential issues.
- Engage in written communication with property owners and agencies regarding affordable housing matters.
Qualifications:
- Ability to work remotely.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
- Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Proficient in multitasking and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with HUD regulations and COS Designation is essential.
- Tax Credit Designation is preferred.
- Bilingual candidates are preferred.
