Job Overview

Compensation: The starting hourly wage for this role is $13.00/hr, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package.

As an Associate Custodian, you will play a vital role in ensuring a clean, safe, and healthy atmosphere within University facilities. Your responsibilities will include providing custodial services across various environments such as classrooms, offices, research laboratories, and communal areas. You will adhere to a non-traditional work schedule as outlined by the department and will be responsible for securing building access by locking and unlocking designated areas as per the schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster positive relationships with building occupants and address their requests.
  • Maintain a stable work or educational history with a strong attendance record.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English for effective communication.
  • Exhibit basic mathematical skills and strong organizational abilities.
  • Learn to operate both powered and non-powered floor care equipment.
  • Participate in the Building Services Custodial Development Program within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment as necessary.
  • Capable of lifting and transporting weights ranging from 25 to 50 lbs frequently, and up to 60 lbs occasionally.
  • Engage in outdoor work 10% of the time in varying temperatures.
  • Provide custodial services in diverse areas including restrooms, classrooms, offices, research labs, and public spaces.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Six months of experience in custodial, service, housekeeping, or janitorial roles.
  • Two years of general work experience.

Additional Information:

This position may be filled at either the Associate Custodian or Custodian level, depending on the selected candidate's skills and qualifications. All new hires are expected to adhere to established guidelines.
