Role Overview

The primary focus of the Vision Systems Engineer is to design, refine, and optimize vision system protocols for the inspection of injectable pharmaceutical products. Additionally, this role involves collaboration with the Center of Competence (COC) on Artificial Intelligence technologies and bespoke vision applications. Responsibilities also include machine installations, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, modifications, and the configuration of particle sensor parameters. Support for various pharmaceutical packaging and inspection machinery within the inspection division may also be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in approximately 75% travel, both domestically and occasionally internationally, to facilitate Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) at Syntegon facilities.
  • Serve as the lead engineer for vision tuning and mentor new engineers on established tuning standards.
  • Collaborate with the COC on the integration of Artificial Intelligence and work on vision system integrations.
  • Conduct machine installations and assist clients with Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
  • Guide clients in providing appropriate samples to develop effective machine vision protocols and achieve defect detection goals with minimal false rejections.
  • Educate client personnel on the operation and maintenance of inspection, packaging, and assembly machinery.
  • Perform on-site preventive maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical machine issues.
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients to ensure optimal machine performance and satisfaction.
  • Deliver vision training sessions, both in-house and at client locations.
  • Execute PC repairs and upgrades at both office and client sites.
  • Provide troubleshooting support via phone for operational machine issues.
  • Compile service visit summaries and technical documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering.
  • At least one year of experience working with Vision Systems, preferably Halcon or Cognex.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Passport or the ability to obtain one.

Physical and Travel Requirements

  • Capability to lift items weighing up to 30 pounds and maneuver equipment for placement.
  • Willingness to work overtime and travel on weekends as necessary.
  • 75% overnight travel primarily within North America, with occasional international trips.

Additional Information

The anticipated salary range for this position is between $65,000 and $95,000, contingent upon a full-time schedule. Compensation varies based on numerous non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to office location, role, qualifications, relevant skills, and experience level.
