Electrical Project Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to join our team at Affiliated Engineers, Inc. in our Overland Park, KS office. As an Electrical Project Engineer, you will play a key role in empowering our clients to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing power industry through design and improvement of electrical systems for all types of facilities and generation technologies.
Responsibilities- Design and improve electrical systems for utility scale generation facilities, central utility plants, industrial/manufacturing facilities, large-scale data centers, and energy storage facilities.
- Develop scope of work, conceptual design, detailed design, and execution plans for electrical projects.
- Support proposals and assist in client sales presentations.
- Perform Lead Engineer duties on multi-discipline power and steam generation projects.
- Provide leadership, guidance, instruction, and mentorship to less experienced team members.
- Communicate with clients, partners, and individuals at all levels within an organization.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or other engineering discipline with applicable experience.
- 10+ years of experience in the consulting engineering industry for utility power plants, utility switchyards/substations, process/manufacturing facilities, industrial facilities, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, or governmental facilities.
- Professional Engineering License (PE) in one or more states.
- Experience in substation design and power systems including specification of medium voltage (15kV – 69kV) and/or high voltage (69kV – 138kV) equipment, electrical components, fault and coordination studies, protection schemes and protective relays, and commonly used electrical design concepts, codes, practices, and procedures.
- Proficiency in computer operation for engineering calculation/selection software for engineering design programs (i.e. Revit MEP, AutoCAD, Navisworks, SKM Power Tools, ETAP, SmartPlant, SmartPlant Electrical, or similar software).
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Effective working in applications such as MS Excel, MS Word, and Bluebeam.
