CNS Research Scientist

Leal Therapeutics is a biotechnology company dedicated to developing novel, precision therapeutics for major diseases of the central nervous system (CNS) with critical unmet needs, including ALS, Schizophrenia, and Alzheimer's disease.
Key Responsibilities- Design, execute, analyze, and interpret in vitro and in vivo experiments to support discovery and preclinical development for drug candidates.
- Develop, troubleshoot, and optimize cell and molecular assays to evaluate drug candidates as needed.
- Manage external CROs to design and execute preclinical efficacy studies.
- Document and present results for study reports, conferences, manuscripts, and regulatory submissions.
- Work closely with internal and external collaborators to ensure studies are executed to meet company goals and timelines and in alignment with regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to cross-functional decision-making and execution.
- Contribute to strategy and development plans for translation from discovery to the clinic.
- Train and mentor junior scientists and research associates.
- Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline with 3+ years additional experience required.
- A minimum of 2 years in industry or preclinical drug development required.
- Experience in CNS disorders, molecular biology, and preclinical models required.
- Experience with oligonucleotides preferred.
- Strong organizational skillset with ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Passion for bringing new therapies to serve patients with unmet medical needs.
