Job Overview

Salary:

We are looking for a motivated and passionate Culinary Assistant to become a part of our food preparation team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in assisting with meal preparation, ensuring a clean and orderly kitchen environment, and supporting the culinary staff in various food service tasks. This position is vital for maintaining exceptional food quality and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ingredient Preparation:
    • Assist in the washing, chopping, and measuring of ingredients.
    • Adhere to recipes and instructions from the head chef to prepare and cook meals.
    • Ensure timely and efficient food preparation.
  • Cooking Duties:
    • Prepare simple dishes under the supervision of the head chef.
    • Oversee food quality and presentation to uphold high standards.
    • Assist in the plating and garnishing of meals.
  • Kitchen Upkeep:
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen by washing dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment.
    • Ensure all kitchen areas are sanitized and comply with health and safety regulations.
    • Assist in waste disposal and recycling efforts.
  • Stock Management:
    • Support inventory management by monitoring stock levels and informing the head chef of shortages.
    • Assist in the proper receipt and storage of deliveries.
  • Teamwork:
    • Collaborate closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
    • Communicate effectively with team members and provide assistance as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a kitchen or food service setting is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Eagerness to learn and take direction from senior kitchen staff.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Capable of lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in a hot and bustling kitchen environment.
