We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bookselling Team Lead to join our team at Barnes & Noble. As a key member of our store operations team, you will be responsible for leading our bookselling team and ensuring that our customers receive an exceptional shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities- Create Memorable Shopping Experiences: Develop and implement strategies to create a welcoming and engaging store environment that encourages customers to return and share their experiences with others.
- Ensure a Vibrant Bookstore: Oversee the execution of bookstore basics, including presentation, commerciality, section detail, localization, and sense of theater, to create a visually appealing and inviting store.
- Demonstrate Handselling Skills: Drive successful campaigns, such as Our Monthly Picks and preorders, to establish book prowess and drive sales.
- Develop the Bookselling Team: Identify and develop the strengths of individual team members, providing coaching and engagement to ensure their success in their roles.
- Communicate Effectively: Collaborate with cluster commercial support to support tailored inventory, consistent local pricing, and assortments that reflect the community and customer needs.
- Ensure Efficient Store Operations: Direct work and manage the efficient execution of store operations, including receiving, returns, and day-to-day processes, while minimizing shrink and expenses.
- Identify Opportunities for Improvement: Continuously assess and improve store operations, communicating and sharing insights with the team and cluster to enhance the bookstore experience.
- Communicate Collaboratively: Deliver initiatives that support our booksellers through fair and consistent feedback and respectful accountability.
- Work on the Selling Floor: Be physically active on the selling floor, requiring prolonged standing, repetitive bending, lifting, and climbing, as well as working in the Caf when needed.
- Ensure Store Safety: Open and close the building, ensuring the safety of employees and customers.
- Bookselling Knowledge: Exhibit solid bookselling knowledge and conversations across various genres.
- Operational Knowledge: Demonstrate solid operational knowledge to run the bookstore.
- Service Standards: Deliver excellent standards of service, including good decision-making, confidence, and the ability to direct work with productive results.
- Training and Development: Has experience in training employees and is able to organize, plan, and prioritize workload.
- Communication and Feedback: Communicate effectively, collaboratively, and comfortably through and with others, providing honest and respectful feedback.
- Expected Behaviors: Prioritize customer experience, support results, and understand financial factors, while being well-organized, managing time efficiently, and adapting to a dynamic and changing work environment.
