Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bookseller Team Lead to join our team at Barnes & Noble. As a leader, you will be responsible for creating a positive and engaging customer experience by sharing your knowledge and passion for books with your team and customers.
You will be responsible for managing the store, achieving sales goals, and ensuring operational excellence. This includes mentoring and supporting booksellers, developing their expertise, and working collaboratively with the cluster structure to ensure the best experience for our customers.
Key Responsibilities- Create memorable shopping experiences for customers by providing consistent, friendly, and informed service.
- Ensure a vibrant bookstore through the flawless execution of bookstore basics, including presentation, commerciality, section detail, localization, and sense of theater.
- Demonstrate handselling skills to drive successful campaigns, such as Our Monthly Picks and preorders, to establish book prowess and drive sales.
- Develop the bookselling team based on individual strengths and through engagement and coaching.
- Communicate collaboratively with cluster commercial support to support tailored inventory, consistent local pricing, and assortments that reflect the community and customer.
- Ensure efficient execution of store operations by directing work, managing receiving, returns, and day-to-day processes, and understanding issues of shrink and expenses.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in operations and communicate with the team and cluster to enhance the bookstore experience.
- Communicate collaboratively with the store team and cluster to deliver initiatives that support booksellers through fair and consistent feedback and respectful accountability.
- Work to better the cluster through operations and structure.
- Work on the selling floor, which requires physical activity, and Caf when needed.
- Open and close the building, ensuring the safety of employees and customers.
- Exhibit solid bookselling knowledge and conversations across various genres.
- Solid operational knowledge to run the bookstore.
- Deliver bookselling basics consistently.
