Job Title: Radiology Technologist PRN (Weekends)

CapRock Health is seeking a skilled and dedicated Radiology Technologist to join our team on a PRN basis, working weekends. As a key member of our radiology team, you will be responsible for operating radiologic equipment to produce high-quality images for diagnostic purposes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate radiologic equipment to produce radiographs (X-Rays) of the body for diagnostic purposes.
  • Position patients on examining tables and adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimal views of specified areas of the body.
  • Move equipment into position and adjust controls to set exposure factors, such as time and distance, based on knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques and protocols.
  • Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff.
  • Perform Computed Tomography (CT) scans of the human body in accordance with established protocols.
  • Assist clinical teams with clinical care, as trained.
Requirements:
  • Successful completion of an approved Radiologic Technology program.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) registry.
  • Two years' experience as a Computed Tomography Technologist or Radiology Technologist.
  • Minimum of an Associate of Applied Science Degree from an accredited school.
  • Texas Medical Board licensure for radiology technologist.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in an Emergency Department.
Essential Job Functions:
  1. Model professionalism and customer service to patients, family, community, staff, and physicians consistent with the Mission and Values of CapRock Health System.
  2. Perform diagnostic imaging studies (Computed Tomography and X-Ray) under the direction/supervision of a licensed independent practitioner.
  3. Prepare and submit quality images for radiology reads and interpretations.
  4. Monitor and manage the timeliness of the receipt of radiology reads/results and post to medical record following report review/acknowledgement by the ordering physician.
  5. Report abnormal exams to the health care provider(s) as soon as possible and without delay.
  6. Anticipate patient needs and physician orders, based on the patient's chief complaint and presenting signs and symptoms.
  7. Apply assessment skills to recognize critical care needs. Act with a sense of urgency, when appropriate.
  8. Ensure that all equipment is in proper working order and report defects and/or deficiencies to their supervisor.
  9. Troubleshoot errors and malfunctioning of equipment.
  10. Effectively communicate with teammates and physicians to ensure timeliness of procedures, exams, radiology reads, equipment, error readings, etc.
  11. Promote safety initiatives and follow safety requirements by adhering to safety policies, regulatory standards, infection control policies/guidelines, and radiation safety.
  12. Accurately and timely document imaging procedures in the medical record.
  13. Maintain and update Radiology Department procedure log as required.
  14. Record other data and QA test results as required.
  15. Assist ultrasound tech to perform procedures according to the established departmental policies, workflows, regulations, ensuring compliance in all facets to include safety and infection control.
  16. Maintain competency and assist clinical care team with the following as needed/requested:
  • Perform duties as assigned for venous blood draws for blood and body fluid samples.
  • Perform laboratory point of care testing and send out labs as ordered by the on-duty physician.
  • Report abnormal lab testing to the health care provider as soon as possible and without delay.
  • Post such completed lab results to the chart.
  • Perform daily/monthly QC's to ensure proper performance and compliance in the laboratory.
  • Must fulfill requirement of annual laboratory proficiency testing.
  • Report any diversion from normal lab operations or incidents to the Nurse Director and Laboratory Manager, i.e., exposures, incidents, spills, injuries, etc.
  • Obtain vital signs.
  • Initiate IV start.
  • Document procedures and tasks, as applicable.
