Job Title: Registered Nurse Fellow

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Registered Nurse Fellow to join our team at Inova. As a Registered Nurse Fellow, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the growth and development of our healthcare team.

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse Fellow will work under the supervision of an experienced RN and will be responsible for providing patient care in assigned patient care delivery settings. The successful candidate will be trained to work in both IMC and Telemetry units and will be expected to utilize and apply new knowledge to achieve desired patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform patient assessments to collect basic data
  • Follow written plans of care, standards and practice guidelines while utilizing pathways under the supervision of an experienced RN
  • Utilize assessment data and patient preferences to identify patient care needs
  • Organize, prioritize and deliver patient care to assigned patients by utilizing Inova's Nursing Professional Practice Model and Care Delivery Model
  • Monitor patients' progress toward expected outcomes and adjust plans of care accordingly
  • Provide compassionate and empathetic hands-on care while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality
  • State rationale for clinical decisions based on educational knowledge, principles and evidence-based practices
  • Work efficiently within the healthcare team to achieve maximum productivity and identified outcomes
  • Accurately document all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and seek assistance from others to further develop documentation skills
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and meetings as an active member of the healthcare team
  • Successfully integrate novice nursing abilities with new knowledge and the capacity to incorporate and transfer these skills into the delivery of safe/high-quality patient care
  • Identify and seek out members of the healthcare team as a resource to increase practice/knowledge while seeking validation of clinical decisions from unit resources
  • Showcase openness to feedback, mentoring and suggestions from colleagues to implement change and enhance care
  • Attend and participate in all learning sessions assigned for successful completion of the Registered Nurse (RN) Fellowship
  • Complete all assignments (e.g. classroom work, computer-based learning modules, laboratory simulations and assigned readings) on time and be able to recall, comprehend and apply them in the classroom and clinical settings
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills, verbalize reasoning and demonstrate use of equipment and supplies involved in providing safe/high-quality and effective patient care
  • May serve as a preceptor following appropriate orientation and competency completion
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 1 year of Registered Nurse clinical experience
  • Education: BSN from an accredited school of nursing
  • If RN has an Associates Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within five years of start
  • Healthcare Provider Certification from the American Heart Association required
  • RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a RN
  • Proficient in English, strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skill and the ability to display a caring demeanor towards others
  • Proficient computer skills required
