Position Summary:

The Logistics Analyst is responsible for overseeing transportation operations, including raw materials, intercompany shipments, and finished products. This role is crucial in ensuring optimal transportation flows while maintaining cost efficiency. The analyst will independently monitor and manage shipment deliveries and receipts, ensuring timely scheduling, planning, and dispatching of trucks to meet customer requirements. Acting as a vital link to customer service, the analyst will coordinate shipment schedules to align with job site expectations and work closely with transportation providers to secure competitive rates and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and construct finished goods loads based on customer specifications and schedules.
  • Enhance logistics efficiency for both inbound and outbound freight operations.
  • Ensure adherence to the Business Operating System (BOS) during transition phases and suggest necessary adjustments.
  • Generate and maintain Bills of Lading and other essential shipping documentation.
  • Uphold safety regulations and protocols throughout the shipping and transportation processes.
  • Develop internal capabilities and collaborate with third-party logistics (3PL) providers for loading, unloading, shipping, and yard management.
  • Lead initiatives that drive improvements in shipping and logistics operations.
  • Train and mentor team members on best practices in freight and logistics.
  • Coordinate dock and truck scheduling for inbound and outbound freight to optimize traffic flow and dock utilization.
  • Manage finished goods both on-site and with external finishers.
  • Collaborate with carriers and contract teams to establish freight agreements with preferred providers.
  • Communicate updates regarding shipping timelines and other relevant information to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor key performance indicators such as freight expenditures, carrier performance, and storage costs, providing detailed reports and action plans for improvement.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 3 years of experience in inventory or shipping within a manufacturing environment. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • APICS (CPIM) certification is preferred.
  • Proficient in production and supplier scheduling.
  • Familiarity with freight carriers and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Able to provide guidance and training to colleagues as necessary.
  • Competent in using ERP systems, Excel, and other relevant applications.
  • Basic mathematical skills are essential.
  • Experience in rate-based or flow line (non-MRP) and job shop manufacturing settings.
  • Knowledge of operations, inventory management, MRP, and lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Experience with visual management systems is advantageous.
