This position demands a profound understanding of intelligence analysis, engagement with senior leadership, and a proven track record of enhancing the quality and effectiveness of written communications.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Support the government in the development and refinement of analytic documents by providing expert advice on grammar, punctuation, and stylistic consistency, ensuring adherence to applicable style guidelines. Review and edit a variety of analytical outputs daily, offering clear, actionable suggestions to enhance clarity, content, and overall quality while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments to create and finalize high-profile analytic documents. Transform draft materials into well-articulated, polished outputs that effectively convey critical issues to senior policy and intelligence officials.
  • Engage with senior government officials at the executive level, facilitating constructive discussions among a diverse range of stakeholders with varying backgrounds and authority levels. Provide insights and feedback on documents to ensure alignment with strategic goals and expectations of senior leadership.
  • Guide and mentor government personnel to improve their technical writing capabilities, thereby enhancing the impact, value, and clarity of analytic products. Offer training on best practices in writing, document composition, and adherence to established writing standards.
  • Ensure all edited materials comply with style guidelines, relevant standards, and production requirements. Maintain editorial consistency, formatting, and compliance with government standards across all deliverables.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree with 18 years of relevant experience, a Master’s degree with 10 years of experience, or 24 years of experience in technical editing without a degree, particularly within the intelligence sector.
  • Must possess a TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.
  • Extensive expertise in technical writing and editing, with a comprehensive understanding of intelligence analysis. Proficient in applying intelligence community writing standards and familiar with relevant document production processes.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to convert complex information into professional, polished documents for senior audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with senior leaders and stakeholders, fostering a constructive environment for feedback and document enhancement.
  • Proven ability to lead teams in the preparation and quality assessment of technical documents, and to mentor junior staff in developing their writing and editing skills.

Compensation Range

$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
