Job Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled Optical Systems Engineer to design and develop innovative fiber optic products, including optical cross-connect switches. The successful candidate will work closely with multi-discipline teams to design cutting-edge technology and provide technical guidance to process engineers and technicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design new fiber optic products and manage product extensions
  • Participate in the optical design and analysis of MEMS optical cross-connect switches
  • Work with chief/principal optical engineer to design new products, build optical models, and perform performance error and tolerance analysis
  • Provide technical guidance to process engineers and technicians
  • Provide technical support to customers and suppliers
  • Perform design verification activities to ensure that optical design meets customer specifications and industry standards
Requirements
  • Masters degree in physics, applied physics, optics, or optical engineering
  • At least 6 years of experience in free space and/or micro-optics system design and development
  • Expertise in free space and/or micro-optics optical system design, photonic simulation, and prototype development
  • Experience with Zemax, CODE-V, and/or other simulation tools to build models of optical products
  • Proficient in optical system tolerance analysis
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. degree in optics, physics, or related technical discipline
  • Experience in process development for fiber optic products
  • Experience with design for manufacturing and manufacturing processes
  • Experience with the characteristics and use of various optical adhesives, glasses, ceramics, and metallic materials
  • Familiarity with opto-mechanical design concepts and principles
What We Offer
