In this role, you will collaborate with software development, rapid response, and incident management teams to design and maintain highly available and scalable systems within the AWS cloud environment.

You will also provide operational support for cross-cloud infrastructure and applications (AWS and Azure) until the transition to a stable AWS cloud setup is achieved.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Partner with our engineering team to determine and implement optimal cloud solutions on AWS.
  • Address complex technical challenges.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • Enhance performance, scalability, and resilience of the platform.
  • Investigate priority incidents, lead post-mortem analyses, and ensure comprehensive resolution of issues.
  • Contribute to the establishment of best practices for Infrastructure as Code, software build tools, and Continuous Integration.
  • Manage, operate, and maintain Pearson Cloud systems.
  • Oversee cloud services, including monitoring, logging, and alerting.
  • Support automation services and scripting for cloud deployments and migrations.
  • Minimize manual tasks through automation.
  • Assist with cross-cloud applications (AWS and Azure).
  • Engage in an on-call support rotation.

Qualifications - Desired Experience:
  • 6+ years of experience in architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions on AWS platforms.
  • Advanced knowledge of AWS Services such as EC2, ECS, IAM, CloudWatch, Lambda, FSx, ECR, S3, EFS, and Route53.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Extensive experience in automating tasks and services using programming languages like Python, PowerShell, NodeJS, or bash.
  • Proficient with the Windows Operating System, Active Directory, and IIS.
  • Strong understanding of the five pillars of well-architected frameworks.
  • Experience in monitoring cloud-based systems with tools like NewRelic, CloudWatch, or Datadog.
  • Ability to debug and optimize code while automating routine tasks.
  • Familiarity with agile software development processes, including Jira.
  • Proficient in version control systems such as Git, GitLab, or GitHub.
  • Experience with programming languages such as C#, Java, or Golang.
  • Experience in designing, analyzing, and resolving issues in large-scale distributed systems.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols and cybersecurity best practices in cloud environments.
  • Systematic problem-solving skills, coupled with excellent communication abilities and a strong sense of ownership.
  • Experience in building CI/CD pipelines using tools like Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or Jenkins.

Preferred Skills:
  • AWS Solution Architect Associate certification is a plus.
  • HashiCorp Terraform certification is a plus.
