Job Summary

Alden Meadow Park Health Care Center seeks a Certified Nursing Assistant in Training to provide exceptional care and support to our residents. As a CNA in Training, you will work under the supervision of a nurse to deliver high-quality care and services that meet the needs of our residents.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the provision of care and services related to activities of daily living and/or as directed by the staff nurse.
  • Develop and implement a written plan of care for each resident that identifies their problems/needs.
  • Attend and actively participate in resident care plan conferences, and Resident Council and/or Family Council when invited.
  • Report all concerns, complaints made by the resident or their family to the Administrator.
  • Maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the department.
  • Participate in In-service Education Programs.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining an effective orientation program that orients new staff members to the facility, their department, and its policies and procedures.
  • Recommends to the Director of Nursing the equipment and supply needs of the department.
  • Inventory and store the new resident's personal possessions.
  • Assist residents with packing personal possessions when they are transferred to a new room or when being discharged.
  • Participate in and receive the nursing report upon reporting for duty.
  • Maintain intake and output records as instructed. Check and report bowel movements and character of stools.
  • Makes occupied and unoccupied beds, changes bed linens, and straightens rooms, closet, and drawers. Notify housekeeping if mattress in need of cleaning or replacement.
  • Answers call lights promptly, answer telephone calls as needed, and run errands as requested.
  • Obtain blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, heights, and weights as needed.
  • Do complete check of skin condition when dressing, undressing, turning/repositioning, etc. Report any skin abnormalities to the Staff Nurse.
  • Observe resident's physical condition, attitude, reactions, appetite, etc., and report any changes and/or unusual findings to the Nurse/RCC so care plan can be updated.
  • Perform personal services for residents (i.e., reading, writing letters, etc.) as time allows.
  • Encourage residents to help themselves and promote self-care in aiding rehabilitation.
  • Assist with care of dying and expired residents.
  • Record resident food/fluid intake. Complete meal monitor form as indicated. Report changes in resident's eating habits to the Staff Nurse.
  • Keep residents' water pitchers clean and filled with fresh water on each shift unless contraindicated.
  • Serve between meals and bedtime snacks.
  • Wear transfer belt at all times and utilize as needed.
  • Keep the nurses' call system within easy reach of the resident.
  • Report all hazardous equipment and conditions to the Staff Nurse immediately.
  • Participate in the development, maintenance, and implementation of the facility's Quality Assurance program for the Nursing Department.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
