Job Summary:

The Evening Shift Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of Materials Management during the evening and night shifts. This individual is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all delivery processes to patient care areas, creating staffing schedules, and resolving staffing coverage issues. In collaboration with the Manager, the Evening Shift Supervisor assists in implementing staff training and maintains mandatory in-service and ongoing education for Materials Management staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and coordinate delivery processes to patient care areas during evening and night shifts
  • Create staffing schedules to ensure timely execution of scope of services
  • Resolve staffing coverage issues and make specific shift assignments on a daily basis
  • Assist in implementing staff training and maintaining mandatory in-service and ongoing education for Materials Management staff
  • Supervise Materials Management evening and night shift staff
  • Complete performance appraisals within required time frames using competency-based performance documents
  • Perform quality monitoring in support of departmental metrics and ensure shifts are proceeding in a spirit of continuous improvement
  • Share Manager On Call responsibility with other Materials Management Managers on a rotating basis
  • Conduct daily walk-throughs of unit supply locations to ensure they are properly stocked and organized
  • Schedule pick-ups and deliveries for equipment from the new Equipment warehouse at Ainsley Drive
  • Ensure all totes not completed by the evening shift are delivered and put away properly by the night shift
  • Ensure Critical Stations are kept up and all carts and kits are complete and ready for issue
  • Monitor staff interaction with nursing staff to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Supervise the maintenance of the Distribution pick area, ensuring it is well-stocked and well-organized
Requirements:
  • Associates degree and three years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong computer, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
  • Prior supervisory experience required
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and lift 35 pounds to shoulder height required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in a hospital materials management environment strongly preferred
Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday, weekends and holidays as needed
