Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Special Procedures Technologist to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic exams utilizing various imaging equipment, including CT, MRI, Interventional Radiology, and Cardiology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify patient identity and review medical records for exam appropriateness.
  • Interview patients to obtain, verify, or update medical history and assess risk factors.
  • Explain procedures to patients, including side effects, risks, benefits, alternatives, and follow-up instructions.
  • Set up equipment and acquire images as per script.
  • Review images, make initial observations, document exceptions, and communicate data to radiologists.
  • Recognize and respond to medical emergencies as appropriate.
  • Provide post-care instructions to patients.
  • Participate in process improvement activities, including quality of care, patient flow, reject-repeat analysis, and patient satisfaction.
  • Provide imaging education to residents, student technologists, and new employees.
Requirements
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiology (R).
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BLS) training.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification (PALS) within 6 months of hire.
  • One or more years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiology.
