Position Overview:
The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) specializes in delivering thorough healthcare services to a designated patient population in accordance with established practice guidelines and areas of expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee patient care within the designated specialty area, adhering to medical staff privileges.
- Gather comprehensive patient health histories and analyze relevant tests and medical records.
- Conduct physical examinations and document findings accurately.
- Implement various diagnostic, preventive, and therapeutic procedures, including ordering specialized screenings and tests to assess health conditions.
- Prescribe both pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment options, developing tailored treatment plans.
- Create educational resources for patients and their families.
- Coordinate patient scheduling for procedures, ensuring proper documentation and collaboration with other healthcare services.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans, documenting patient outcomes and adjusting plans as necessary.
- Engage in the educational development of nursing and medical students, residents, and other healthcare professionals through mentorship and curriculum involvement.
- Maintain a faculty appointment to ensure clinical privileges at the University of Illinois Health System.
- Participate in additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Nursing or Doctorate in Nursing is required.
- Current Nurse Practitioner licensure in the State of Illinois is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Pediatric nursing is advantageous.
- Board certification as a Pediatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner is preferred.
