Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist (OT) to work with individuals on the Autism Spectrum between the ages of 5-21 years old. The OT will follow a treatment plan/IEP goals developed to improve, develop, restore, or maintain opportunities for active participation in self-maintenance, work, leisure, and play for our students.

  • The OT will provide direct service according to a written treatment plan/IEP that they develop, recommending modification of treatment approaches to reflect the student's changing needs.
  • The OT will develop appropriate plans for the students being supported, providing collaborative education and supervision services to promote best practices and professional growth to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants.

Treatment Plans & Supervision

  • Direct service according to a written treatment plan/IEP that the OT develops
  • Recommend modification of treatment approaches to reflect the student's changing needs
  • Develop appropriate plans for the students being supported
  • Provide collaborative education and supervision services to promote best practices and professional growth to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants

Communication & Administration

  • Communicate and interact with other team members, school personnel, and families
  • Develop and maintain a daily schedule, which includes sites, students/classrooms and other activities/duties
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Maintain high standards of confidentiality, attendance, and flexibility, while working cooperatively with supervisors and other employees

Qualifications and Work Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program required
  • Current New York State OT license to practice required
  • Experience working with people with autism highly preferred
  • One to three years' experience working as an OT in a related setting preferred
  • Vaccination required
