Safety and Security Specialist

Position Overview:
- Ensure a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Conduct regular patrols of the facility to maintain security, safety, and fire protection.
- Assume designated security posts for protection, control, or assistance as needed.
- Provide protective escorts for individuals and hospital property when required.
- Perform fire safety inspections throughout the facility.
- Conduct preliminary investigations of reported criminal activities within the premises.
- Identify, remove, or apprehend unauthorized or suspicious individuals found on-site.
- Respond promptly to internal security or fire emergency alarms and take appropriate action.
- Prepare and submit daily operational reports as necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all information obtained during the course of duties.
- Engage with all employees, staff, visitors, and patients in a friendly, helpful, and professional manner.
- Utilize effective interpersonal skills in all interactions.
- Perform duties and exhibit behaviors consistent with the care philosophy of Pennsylvania Medicine.
- PA Act - Training to Carry Lethal Weapons (Required)
- Pennsylvania State Act 235 certification is required within six months of employment.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification (Required)
- CPR Certification is required within six months of employment.
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Specialization in education or equivalent experience:
• 0-1 years of prior experience in law enforcement, security, or relevant college education in criminal justice.
