Location: Oregon

Beef Northwest Feeders LLC is seeking a dedicated and skilled Cattle Ranch Hand to become an integral part of our livestock management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the health and welfare of cattle while effectively managing natural resources in a sustainable manner. Position Summary:

The primary responsibility of this role is to maintain the health and well-being of all cattle under the care of Beef Northwest Feeders LLC, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of animal welfare and land stewardship.

This position will require flexibility between different operational sites. During specific seasons, the role will be based in one location, while in other periods, it will shift to another site, utilizing rotational grazing methods for the herd. Accommodation will be provided at both operational sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Skillfully manage cattle using horseback techniques, including castration, branding, weaning, sorting, and loading, while minimizing stress on the animals.
  • Monitor cattle health, identify illnesses, and administer necessary medications and vaccinations following established protocols.
  • Comply with all Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) standards and ranch protocols, ensuring accurate documentation of procedures.
  • Utilize cattle and pasture management software to maintain precise records of all cattle classes.
  • Conduct routine repairs and maintenance of corrals, fencing, and water systems as required.
  • Ensure the upkeep of vehicles, housing, barns, and related facilities associated with this position.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment proactively.
  • Participate regularly in safety meetings and training sessions.

Qualifications:

  • Self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Possession of a minimum of three well-trained horses to perform job duties safely.
  • Experience in cattle handling and horsemanship, demonstrating a commitment to animal welfare.
  • Able to work independently, collaboratively in small teams, and effectively in larger groups for various tasks.
  • Willingness to learn and implement modern techniques and technologies.
  • Valid driving record is required.
