Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive buses safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and speed limits on airport campus.
  • Provide excellent customer service to passengers, answering questions and assisting with ground transportation needs.
  • Interact professionally with all customers, including those with special needs or disabilities.
  • Complete pre-trip inspections and related paperwork, such as vehicle inspection reports.
  • Perform light cleaning inside the bus, including emptying trash and sweeping.
  • Assist passengers with boarding or exiting the vehicle, including operating wheelchair ramps and lifts.

Requirements:

  • Three years of related work experience or a high school graduate with one year of related work experience.
  • CDL-B with Passenger Endorsement.
  • Ability to safely drive any of the bus models on all routes.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and speak English clearly enough to be understood over the radio and by passengers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience transporting passengers in a high-volume environment.
  • Experience working in an airport environment.

The City of Charlotte is an Equal Opportunity Employer. The selected candidate must pass a pre-employment drug-screening test and physical examination. During the selection process, candidates may be asked to take a skills test and/or participate in other assessments.

Benefits:

The City of Charlotte offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including a signing bonus of up to $1,000 upon hire and a second payment of $1,000 after the initial six-month new hire probationary period.
