Recognized at both state and national levels, District 196 spans 110 square miles in northern Dakota County, Minnesota, serving a diverse community of approximately 150,000 residents, including over 29,000 students enrolled in Early Childhood programs through grade 12.


Program Description:
Early Childhood Family Services, a component of Community Education, provides families with children from birth to prekindergarten a range of programs and services, including Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE), Connections Preschool (School Readiness), and Family School (Family Literacy).


Qualifications:
- Background in caring for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
- Experience engaging with parents and children (birth to five) from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds is preferred.
- Physical capability to provide necessary care for young children, including lifting and diapering.
- Strong communication skills with colleagues, parents, and young children.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends.


Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design and execution of educational programs and environments for children.
- Facilitate structured group and individualized activities as directed by the lead teacher.
- Engage with a diverse group of up to 350 children and parents weekly.
- Provide necessary care, including diaper changes for infants and children.
- Support the teacher in daily routines to ensure a conducive learning atmosphere.
- Offer comfort to children experiencing separation anxiety.
- Aid substitute teachers in delivering lessons to maintain continuity.
- Actively participate in children's play, providing guidance and creative engagement.
- Uphold confidentiality and data privacy regarding family information.
- Foster independence in children to support their holistic development.
- Communicate with parents regarding their children's activities and progress.
- Assist in preparing and serving snacks, and support children during mealtime.
- Organize and adapt the learning environment for various age groups.
- Prepare necessary materials and supplies for activities.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the children's learning space.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the teacher.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.


Reporting Structure:
This position reports to the Early Childhood Family Services Program Manager.


Compensation:
This role falls under the RAVE Clerical Association – Wage Group V, with an hourly rate of $23.16 based on contractual agreements.
