Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess the organization's security framework and propose enhancements to reduce vulnerabilities.
  • Formulate and execute thorough cybersecurity policies and protocols.
  • Perform vulnerability evaluations and penetration testing to uncover security flaws.
  • Collaborate with IT departments to ensure that suitable security measures are embedded in technological environments.
  • Provide insights on emerging cyber threats and security best practices.
  • Lead incident response efforts and investigate security incidents.
  • Design and deliver cybersecurity awareness training for personnel throughout the organization.

  • Engage with external parties, including vendors, partners, and regulatory bodies, to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
  • Review and authorize the installation of new software and hardware from a security standpoint.
  • Conduct regular audits to verify that security practices align with internal policies and external standards.
  • Participate in the formulation and testing of business continuity and disaster recovery strategies with an emphasis on cybersecurity.
  • Offer guidance on data protection, privacy, and IT risk management.
  • Act as a bridge between the cybersecurity team and other departments to promote effective communication and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
  • Master's degree is a plus.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in cybersecurity roles such as security analyst, security engineer, or similar positions.
  • Industry-recognized certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or CompTIA Security+.
  • Strong comprehension of various cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, etc.).
  • Awareness of current cybersecurity threats, attack methodologies, and the overall landscape.
  • Experience with security technologies including firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, and endpoint protection.
  • Capability to conduct risk assessments and security audits.
  • Familiarity with incident response protocols and forensics.
  • Understanding of network architecture and data communication protocols.
  • Experience in developing and implementing cybersecurity policies and procedures.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to threat detection and mitigation.
  • Experience providing cybersecurity within an academic organization is strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of delivering outstanding customer service.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Able to work onsite (eligible for a hybrid schedule after an initial training period).
