Position Summary:

The Sous Chef plays a crucial role in managing daily kitchen operations, which includes supervising staff, assisting in menu development, and guaranteeing the quality and freshness of our dishes. This position reports directly to the Head Chef and Executive Chef.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide kitchen personnel in areas such as line cooking, food preparation, and presentation.
  • Train new kitchen staff to adhere to our high standards.
  • Oversee all food preparation and presentation to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Assist in the recruitment of skilled culinary professionals.
  • Monitor and enhance team member performance through supervision, evaluations, training, and scheduling.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef to maintain kitchen organization and identify training opportunities.
  • Ensure that food storage practices meet health and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with management on inventory, budgeting, and kitchen efficiency.
  • Check the quality of ingredients regularly.
  • Maintain well-stocked cooking stations, especially during peak hours.
  • Monitor inventory levels and place orders as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Report to work as scheduled, punctual and ready to perform duties.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Two to five years of experience as a Chef in a comparable environment.
  • Serve Safe Certification is required.
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods, as well as lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Effective communication skills in English.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring abilities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of company policies and procedures.
