Certified Medical Assistant

We are seeking a skilled Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at CODAC Health. As a key member of our clinical team, you will provide medical and office support services to Behavioral Health Medical Professionals, Primary Care Providers, and nurses within our clinical setting.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate the delivery of integrated care services to members, collaborating with clinical and other staff to address their needs.
- Perform integrated healthcare assessments and annual assessment updates.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and revision of integrated service plans, ensuring that services provided align with the plan and monitoring progress toward treatment goals.
- Support members in following through on prescribed medical interventions and diagnostic testing.
- Inform and educate members regarding test results and prescribed interventions, adhering to clinic protocol.
- Assess and address barriers to health.
- Assist with the initiation, completion, and faxing of communication documents as directed by BHMP, PCP, or RN.
- Take vital signs of members.
- Assist in COVID-19/TB protocols and testing requirements.
- Administer injections as directed by BHMP or PCP.
- Review and update current medication lists with any changes.
- Screen for changes in diagnosis or medications since the last appointment.
- Obtain Urine Drug Screen samples from members, when appropriate.
- Return phone messages from members, as requested by BHMP, PCP, or RN.
- Review next-day appointment charts to determine needed chart updates.
- Perform various office duties, such as shredding documents, filing, and sorting mail, lab reports, and faxes from pharmacies.
- Ensure all referrals to specialty medical and behavioral health providers are completed, including referrals to internal CODAC programs.
- Follow up on all laboratory testing orders to ensure results are entered into the electronic health record.
- Provide case management, health promotion, and other necessary services to support member recovery.
- Complete necessary charting and record-keeping in accordance with agency and funding source requirements.
- Assist and educate members with self-administration of medication (med boxes).
- Perform other related activities in accordance with agency growth and changes.
- Graduate of an accredited Certified Medical Assistant program.
- At least one year of experience working in a clinical setting, with skills in office duties, customer service, insurance and billing, and patient care.
- Must attain Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or Registered Clinical Medical Assistant certification within one year of employment through National Healthcareer Association or other certification body.
- Valid Arizona Driver's license, proof of current insurance, and willingness to use a personal vehicle.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record - no more than two moving violations or a license suspension in the past three years.
- Familiarity with and adherence to medical assistant scope of practice.
- Bilingual a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of community resources.
- Extensive knowledge of behavioral health challenges, including knowledge of the impacts of mental illness, domestic violence, and the dynamics of addictive behavior.
- Familiarity with various ethnic and cultural groups.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills using MS Office products, Word, Excel, Access, etc., importing/exporting data to/from applications.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
