We are seeking a highly skilled Academic Advisor to join our team at InsideHigherEd. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering academic advising services to students, providing support to new and existing programs, and participating in special events and professional development activities.
Key Responsibilities- Academic Advising: Provide academic advising services to students, including curriculum review, course sequence planning, and academic progress assessment.
- Program Support: Assist with new and existing programs and services within the Academic Success Center, including new student orientation, academic probation, and degree conferral process.
- Event Participation: Participate in special events, such as academic advising week, academic success and career workshops, commencement ceremony, family weekend, open houses, and student recognition events.
- Professional Development: Participate in professional development activities, technology training, and serve on committees.
- Special Assignments: Assist the Assistant Dean with other special assignments as needed.
- Bachelor's Degree: A bachelor's degree is required.
- Experience: Previous academic advising experience or other experience in an educational setting that focuses on initiatives centered around student success is preferred.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of university operations, academic advising theory and practice, and ability to recognize and respect diverse backgrounds.
- Skills: Superior interpersonal, written communication skills, and group presentation skills, ability to manage large amounts of information, and ability to multi-task.
- Technology: Knowledge of PeopleSoft/Oracle Cloud, web browsing, and PC applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
