Pre-Nurse Aide Assistant

PAY AND BENEFITS

$14 an hour, with a pay increase upon completion of the nurse aide course

GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS

The team member during this pre-training period cannot perform any direct or physical patient care. This position is part of the Nurse Aide Training Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP). Once the team member completes the nurse aide classes and required clinical work, they are considered a Nurse Aide in Training (NAT). The facility may not use any individual working in the facility as a nurse aide for more than 4 months under the Pre-T or NAT positions.

The team member must pass the licensure test to become a STNA during this time period. If they fail to pass the test within the 4-month period, they may be terminated or moved to a non-nursing position.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Answer call lights
  2. Pass ice and water to patients between meals
  3. Assist with hydration cart and HS snack pass
  4. Assist with making patient beds
  5. Assist with laundry portion of STNA job:
    1. Put away patient's clean personal laundry
    2. Stock the clean linen closets following proper infection control techniques
    3. Clean and organize patient drawers under the direction of patient/responsible party
    4. Empty soiled utility containers in outside trash
    5. Mark personal items (i.e. toothbrush, denture cups, toothpaste, etc...) to prevent cross contamination
  6. Set dining room tables (linens and silverware) in prep for meal service
  7. Meal Service - team member is not permitted to feed any patient
  8. Passing trays and drinks to residents in dining room
  9. Delivering room trays to patients' room
  10. Perform one on one visits/companionship with patients
  11. Complete any other non-direct care task assigned by nurse or unit manager
  12. Assist with activities if no other nursing-related activities are needed
