Position Overview

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

Covenant House Missouri (CHMO) provides a safe haven for youth who are runaway, trafficked, at-risk, or facing homelessness, offering them unconditional support and a nurturing environment. Our mission extends beyond basic shelter; we aim to empower young individuals aged 16 to 24 to cultivate independent, productive, and sustainable futures.

The role involves delivering goal-oriented assistance, direct care, and supervision of youth, alongside developing and facilitating engaging activities.

**ENHANCED COMPENSATION** Full-time/Part-time positions available with shifts from 3pm-11pm & 11pm-7am

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide direct care and supervision to youth in the Residential Center, ensuring daily activities align with CHMO policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a secure and well-kept facility at all times.
  • Promptly report maintenance issues to the onsite manager.
  • Create a supportive environment that addresses the needs of youth in a comfortable and motivating manner, consistent with CHMO service philosophies.
  • Conduct life skills training and safety drills for youth.
  • Participate in mandatory training sessions and staff meetings.
  • Lead, plan, and engage in group activities and meetings for youth as assigned.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the facility and oversee youth household chores.
  • Transport and accompany youth to appointments as necessary.
  • Complete daily log notes and required documentation in youth records.
  • Assist the onsite manager in organizing community-based and recreational activities for youth.
  • Administer and document resident medication as required.
  • Serve as a positive role model for youth.
  • Support youth in preparing for daily routines.
  • Maintain accurate receipts and documentation for petty cash expenditures, submitting them to the Program Manager of Residential Services as required.
  • Engage in all required training and staff meetings, completing a minimum of 40 hours of training annually.
  • Uphold CHMO service philosophies, including Housing First, Harm Reduction, Trauma-Informed Care, Strength-Based Approach, and Positive Youth Development, while adhering to all organizational and legal protocols.
  • Contribute to the organization’s Quality Improvement Program through incident reporting and identifying areas for enhancement.
  • Ensure strict confidentiality of youth personal information.
  • Facilitate youth-driven activities to promote engagement in the care system.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, & COMPETENCIES

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

Education & Experience

Minimum requirements:

  1. High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) with at least one year of experience in youth services or related fields.
  2. A college degree is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Understanding of youth mental health and related service systems, with proven experience in youth empowerment and leadership initiatives.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with others to achieve common goals, demonstrating diplomacy and flexibility in the face of differing opinions.
  • Capacity to lead by empowering others and fostering an effective team environment.
  • Ability to connect with youth and individuals at all levels, maintaining positive working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, and external agency representatives.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, able to articulate ideas clearly to those unfamiliar with the subject matter.
  • Proficient writing skills, capable of conveying information concisely and appropriately for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to adapt to and manage change positively as it relates to youth.
