Actuarial Services Opportunity

PacificSource is seeking an experienced actuary to join our team. As an actuary, you will be responsible for providing actuarial services for all assigned segments of business, ensuring accurate and reliable actuarial activities, and analyzing risk to achieve PacificSource's financial and enrollment goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical expertise to Product Development and Sales on rating and benefit evaluation.
  • Produce reports for Management and other departments, including Product Development, Provider Network, Health Services, and Finance.
  • Analyze claims, enrollment, administrative expense, required reserves, trends, and other factors to determine revenue requirements for corporate financial forecasting.
  • Make recommendations based on analysis to reduce costs.
  • Review requirements for and identify information needed to assess risk, cost, and utilization, and its financial impact on PacificSource.
  • Establish formulas and guidelines for timely and accurate rating of existing and prospective insurance contracts.
  • Prepare required rate filings/bids and supporting exhibits, signing actuarial certifications, memoranda, and required statements of opinion.
  • Participate in department meetings and committees to disseminate information and represent company philosophy.
Requirements:
  • At least three years of actuarial experience, with health experience preferred.
  • Baccalaureate degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, or a related field.
  • Enrolled as Associate or Fellow in Society of Actuaries, and active member in good standing of American Academy of Actuaries.

Environment:

Work inside in a general office setting with ergonomically configured equipment. Travel is required approximately 5% of the time.
