We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Substation Designer to join our team at LanceSoft, Inc. As an Electrical Substation Designer, you will be responsible for creating designs in 2D or 3D for electrical substations and supporting client design criteria and standardization efforts.
Key Responsibilities:- Design electrical substations using AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, or Autodesk Map 3D, and produce specifications and material requirements for substation projects.
- Produce scaled 2D drawings or 3D models designing the physical aspects of electrical substations, including foundation layouts, grounding layouts, conduit layouts, switchgear assembly layouts, control buildings, electrical bus design, etc.
- Specify and order material for electrical substation design packages, including stock, non-stock, and shop-fabricated material.
- Transmit drawing packages and supporting specifications using the Transmission Engineering job transmittal program.
- Coordinate and communicate with engineers and other departments associated with electrical substation design.
- Interact with manufacturers, vendors, and client committee members to resolve equipment and material issues.
- Provide support to the OPCO's Substation Construction, Field Services, Project Management, and Substation Maintenance departments.
- Perform site visits for projects, including pre-construction meetings, during construction, and post-construction.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering with a minimum of 4 years of relevant industry experience.
- Strong understanding of electrical substation equipment and transmission and/or distribution substation operations for an electric power utility company.
- Good understanding of utility electric grid operations and knowledge of basic electrical power system theory.
- Ability to create electrical substation physical drawings from a single-line diagram and create/manipulate 2D drawings and 3D models for electrical substations.
- AutoCAD training, experience, or certification and experience using 3D modeling software (Autodesk Inventor or Autodesk Map 3D).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and experience working with document management and estimating systems such as Transmission Estimating and Management System (TEAMS), STOMP, MAXIMO, SCST Vault, and Autodesk Vault Professional.
