Position:

Bilingual HIV Support Specialist

Classification: Full-time, Salary, non-exempt

Reports to: Health Services Director

Objective: To facilitate access to medical care, medication, and supportive services for individuals living with HIV. Focus on addressing psychosocial and health requirements, fostering supportive relationships, providing education, improving quality of life, and enhancing adherence to medical protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold client confidentiality in accordance with established policies and regulations
  • Deliver education on HIV/AIDS and implement risk reduction strategies
  • Assist clients in counseling and risk mitigation efforts
  • Coordinate initial medical appointments within a short timeframe post-screening
  • Ensure effective linkage of clients to services and monitor their progress
  • Refer clients to mental health services, transportation options, and support groups
  • Offer necessary support to clients experiencing crises
  • Engage with clients who are not currently in medical care or program contact
  • Participate in community education initiatives related to HIV
  • Document services provided within a timely manner
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HIV/AIDS developments
