About the Role:We are seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team at Rush University Medical Center. This is a full-time position that requires advanced technical knowledge and experience in laboratory testing.
Responsibilities:- Perform all assigned laboratory testing and reporting for the testing area with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate proficiency in identifying and resolving process issues that affect the laboratory's ability to perform laboratory testing.
- Serve as a resource for identifying and solving quality control issues and escalating these when appropriate.
- Prepare and present continuing education within the department and identify and participate in process improvement projects.
- Ensure sufficient reagents and supplies necessary for test performance are available and notify supervisory staff when minimum inventory level is encountered.
- Serve as an educator and trainer for students and new employees.
- Bachelor's degree in laboratory science, biological science, chemistry, or education/work experience meeting the qualifications of high complexity testing personnel as defined by CLIA 42 CFR 493 1489.
- Certification from nationally recognized certifying agency required.
- Some laboratory disciplines may require more stringent certification criteria.
