Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and implement a resilient DR framework for our expansive, distributed systems, primarily hosted on cloud platforms like AWS, while also considering other cloud and data center solutions.
2. Conduct in-depth analyses of our microservices architecture to identify interdependencies among services and data repositories.
3. Establish and document fault zones within our infrastructure, developing recovery strategies that align with our recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO).
4. Assess and select suitable DR technologies tailored to our diverse data requirements, including relational and NoSQL databases.
5. Lead the implementation of streamlined resiliency patterns and recovery solutions, fostering a culture of automation within the team.
6. Develop a framework that enables application development teams to create clear and detailed DR procedures, ensuring effective communication during crises.
7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, operations, and security, to integrate DR strategies seamlessly into existing processes.
8. Stay informed about the latest advancements in DR best practices and emerging technologies in the cloud computing domain.
9. Mentor and guide engineers in disaster recovery principles, fostering a knowledgeable and skilled team.

Qualifications:
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in software engineering, focusing on distributed systems and cloud computing, with a preference for AWS.
- Proven track record in designing and executing DR solutions for complex infrastructures.
- Deep understanding of microservices architectures and their unique challenges related to disaster recovery.
- Strong knowledge of various data storage solutions and their implications for DR.
- Familiarity with DevOps methodologies and automation tools.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and a commitment to mentoring junior engineers.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the travel technology sector.
- Knowledge of DR orchestration tools.
- Relevant cloud certifications, such as AWS Solutions Architect.
- Professional certifications in Business Continuity Management.
