Position Overview: The Culinary Assistant plays a vital role in the Food and Nutrition Services Department, executing essential daily tasks related to food preparation. This position is integral to maintaining a clean and sanitized kitchen environment while delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare all necessary cold dishes consistently, adhering strictly to standardized recipes and portion control guidelines.
  • Assist with catering setups as required, ensuring all events are executed smoothly.
  • Support cafeteria operations by filling in for staff during absences.
  • Utilize department resources responsibly, ensuring portion control and serving standards are met at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with the Operations Manager regarding food service areas, maintaining confidentiality in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Assist in maintaining food and equipment temperature logs to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Demonstrate proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow hand hygiene protocols diligently.
  • Understand and execute the trash disposal process effectively, ensuring sanitation is upheld in all operational areas.
  • Contribute to the upkeep of department facilities, equipment, and supplies, promoting efficiency and safety.

Qualifications:

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Experience in healthcare food and nutrition services is advantageous.

Special Requirements: Ability to work in environments with potential exposure to human blood and body fluids. Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, is essential.
