Position Overview
As a Survey Crew Chief, you will play a vital role in our engineering team, contributing significantly to the success of our projects. This position allows you to work in a dynamic, technology-driven environment where you will lead a team in executing various surveying tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct a survey crew in performing topographic, boundary, and construction staking surveys.
- Utilize and maintain a range of surveying instruments, including total stations, GPS systems, drones, and other data collection tools.
- Oversee field operations, ensuring accurate data collection, stakeout, and quality assurance.
- Document field observations, record data meticulously, and create sketches as needed.
- Collaborate with project managers and team members to achieve project goals.
- Mentor and train junior staff, promoting adherence to safety standards and protocols.
- Evaluate survey data, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial imagery, and other topographical or geological information.
- Ensure compliance with the company's quality management system and project quality standards.
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of experience in a survey crew chief capacity or a related role.
- Proficient in operating modern surveying equipment, including GPS, GIS, and drones.
- Strong understanding of surveying principles, techniques, and instruments.
- Proven leadership abilities with experience in mentoring team members.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and navigate challenging terrains.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Capability to interpret complex plans and blueprints.
- A degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline is advantageous.
- A valid driver's license is mandatory.
