Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Highway Inspector to perform construction engineering and inspections on a variety of construction projects, including railroad, bridge and highway in Connecticut.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform construction layout, making, and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests.
  • Under minimal direction, rely on experience and independent judgment to plan and accomplish goals, working under the general supervision of the Construction Project Manager.
  • Responsible for setting own project deadlines and providing on-the-job training to new employees.
  • Monitor conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties.
  • Perform daily field inspections and maintain inspection records, participate in punch lists, testing, and commissioning.
  • Track quality assurance progress and provide input to documentation for area and equipment turnovers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED and 6 years of related experience performing inspections on related bridge and/or roadway construction projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • NICET III certification or the ability to become NICET 3 certified.
  • Experience working with Connecticut Dept. of Transportation (CTDOT) is preferred.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules as needed for projects, including overnight work.
