The City of Victoria, TX is seeking a highly skilled Fire Medic to join our team. As a Fire Medic, you will be responsible for responding to emergency and non-emergency calls for service, medical emergencies, and other calls to protect life and property.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain a variety of fire and rescue apparatus and equipment.
- Participate in fire prevention, training, station, and equipment maintenance activities.
- Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service, medical emergencies, and other calls to protect life and property.
- Operate power driven machinery such as lawn mowers and hydraulic extrication equipment.
- Communicate orally with customers in face-to-face one-on-one settings.
- Work cooperatively with other City employees and the public.
- Work at heights greater than ten feet.
- Move objects 20-50 pounds short distances (20 feet or more).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Twenty-four hours of college preferred.
- Basic Structural Fire Protection Personnel Certification required.
- DSHS EMT-Paramedic certification required and must be maintained as a condition of employment.
- Valid Class B Texas driver's license with driving record that meets City guidelines.
- Must successfully complete the department Paramedic STEP Program and the Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) within six-months.
