Off-duty Akron Police Officers

The Akron-Summit County Public Library is seeking off-duty Akron Police Officers to provide security and safety services at our Main Library and city branches. As a Security and Safety Officer, you will be responsible for patrolling library buildings, grounds, and parking lots, monitoring electronic security systems, and observing customer behavior to ensure a safe and secure environment for our patrons and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Patrol library buildings, grounds, and parking lots to prevent and respond to incidents
- Monitor electronic security systems to ensure the safety and security of the library
- Observe customer behavior and intervene when necessary to maintain a safe and secure environment
- Advise library customers of behavior guidelines and enforce those guidelines as needed
- Assist with evacuation or movement of employees and patrons in emergency situations
- Complete incident reports as necessary
Candidates must be Akron Police Officers and must be able to work a minimum of three hours per shift. Compensation is established by the City of Akron Chief's Directive for off-duty police jobs, and the Library also contributes to the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS).
