Role Responsibilities
The Medical Assistant will support physicians in various patient care activities, ensuring a high level of patient satisfaction through effective clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks.
Key Duties Include:
- Accompanying patients to examination or procedure rooms and assisting them as necessary.
- Collecting patient histories, taking vital signs, and performing screenings as per provider guidelines.
- Communicating instructions to patients and their families.
- Managing patient medical records in compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
- Obtaining lab and imaging reports, as well as referral information.
- Preparing and managing patient charts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Scheduling appointments and verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics.
- Preparing examination rooms and ensuring cleanliness and infection control.
- Managing inventory and restocking supplies as needed.
- Organizing patient flow and answering calls to provide relevant information.
- Performing clinic procedures according to established policies.
- Administering medications and vaccines under physician supervision when appropriate.
- Completing other front office tasks as required.
Qualifications
Medical Assistant:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with medical terminology are essential.
Senior Medical Assistant:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant Program or equivalent training (LPN/RN/EMT) is preferred.
- Certification from recognized bodies (AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, or NHA) or at least one year of patient care experience is required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in specific tasks related to the practice category is necessary.
Licensure and Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- Clearances as per regulatory requirements.
