Job Summary

Prairie View A&M University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science. The successful candidate will join a community of faculty committed to quality teaching, research, and service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach survey courses in American and Texas Government, as well as upper division courses in the candidate's specialty.
  • Maintain online teaching certification credentials and offer asynchronous online and hybrid courses.
  • Participate in program-level duties such as academic assessment, student advising, student development, and curriculum enhancement.
  • Seek external and internal grant funding to support research and academic initiatives.
  • Maintain an active research agenda, leading to peer-reviewed publications and conference proceedings.
  • Perform service beneficial to the Department, the College, and the University, as well as the community and the profession.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Political Science or a related field.
  • Three years of teaching experience in higher education.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach political science courses in political theory/political thought.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching political science courses in political theory/political thought.
  • Experience teaching American Government and Texas Government survey courses.
  • Experience developing and teaching online courses.
  • Experience conducting program assessment.
  • Experience in academic advisement.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach Scope and Methods in Political Science.
  • An active scholarship/research program.
