Accident Prevention and Control Manager

About the Role
Team Fishel, a leading utility engineering and construction company, is seeking a highly skilled Safety Manager to join our Northern Virginia operations. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in promoting our Accident-Free culture and ensuring the safety of our teammates.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety policies and procedures to mitigate risk and protect teammates from health and safety hazards.
- Create and deliver safety training programs to educate teammates on safe working practices and promote a culture of safety awareness.
- Provide field leadership with regular safety and training reports to ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.
- Conduct thorough safety assessments on project sites, identify areas for improvement, and provide coaching to crews to ensure safe working practices.
- Investigate and respond to accidents or injuries, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
- Contribute to the development of safety planning, direction, and goal setting for safety programs, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
- Track and report on safety metrics to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement, informing data-driven decision making.
- Promote our safety culture and value of being Accident-Free, developing strong partnerships with field crews to drive safety excellence.
Requirements and Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in the construction safety industry, with extensive knowledge of utility construction (including electric, natural gas, and telecommunications) required.
- Advanced accreditation in safety, including OSHA 30-hour, First Aid/CPR, and Smith System Driving Trainer certification preferred.
- Ability to perform onsite safety audits and document findings.
- Effective communication and coaching skills, with proficiency in MS Office and Google Workspace.
- Bilingual in Spanish highly preferred.
- Ability to travel within the state of Virginia to provide support to crews and area offices.
