About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Principal Engineer to lead our Automation Innovation team in developing cutting-edge autonomous technologies for our mining equipment.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for researching and developing new advanced autonomous and situational awareness technologies, and leading new product design initiatives in the field of machine autonomy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead automation innovation projects and act as a technical resource for other team members.
  • Research and validate new/alternative machine automation tools and systems applicable to mining equipment.
  • Lead new product design initiatives in the field of machine autonomy, including technical specification, hardware selection, integration, programming, testing, and documentation.
  • Develop and maintain technical designs with a strong focus on end-user experiences.
  • Collaborate with different business units and internal departments.
  • Share knowledge and convey resource capabilities and needs to upper management.
  • Drive continuous improvement programs in support of reliable safe products and services, and lean Engineering and operational Excellence initiatives.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in robotics, sensors, programming, machine autonomy, and/or controls.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Robotics or Mechatronics Engineering preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation).
  • Creative, high energy, self-motivated, and self-starter.
