Job Summary:The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within a assigned unit with a commitment to quality and safety. This role requires specialized knowledge, judgment, and skill to perform nursing practices in accordance with hospital policy, procedures, and nursing philosophy.
Responsibilities:- Provide direct, professional nursing care to specified population of patients in the acute care setting.
- Develops a patient-centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
- Maintains confidentiality of the patient medical record.
- Counsel and educate patients and their care partner on treatment plans.
- Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
- Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable.
- Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions, when appropriate.
- Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate.
- Performs nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
- Demonstrates quality, safe, and effective patient care.
- Provides delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff.
- Demonstrates standards of excellence, which includes practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork, and integrity.
- Demonstrates understanding and executes quality and performance improvement plans.
- Participates in decision making and takes actions based on ethical principles.
- Provides timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
- All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
- Bachelor Degree in Nursing.
- Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- ACLS/PALS certification may be required per manager's direction and timeframe.
- Commit to seeking specialty certification within time frame as indicated during interview.
- Experience in relevant specialty.
