Job Summary:

As a Medical Assistant at UnitedHealth Group, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting our healthcare team. Your primary responsibilities will include preparing patient and treatment rooms, sterilizing medical equipment, and assisting physicians with minor procedures. You will also be responsible for scheduling appointments, completing prior authorizations, and processing medication refills. Additionally, you will perform CLIA waived testing, administer injections or treatments, and maintain all Practice Health and Safety Standards. Key Responsibilities:

• Prepares patient and treatment rooms, sterilizes medical equipment, and maintains a clean and organized workspace
• Assists physicians with minor procedures, including injections and treatments
• Schedules appointments, completes prior authorizations, and processes medication refills
• Performs CLIA waived testing, including urinalysis and blood glucose testing
• Maintains all Practice Health and Safety Standards, including proper disposal of biohazardous waste
• Provides exceptional patient care, including taking vital signs and documenting patient information

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Medical Assistant diploma, technical certificate, or certification
• 4+ months of experience performing the critical skills of a Medical Assistant after on-the-job training
• Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, CCMA, NCMA, or RMA) or must be willing to attain that certification within 9 months of employment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Active Medical Assistant certification (CMA, CCMA, NCMA or RMA)
• CPR certification
• Experience working as a Medical Assistant or EMT
• Experience with electronic medical records software
• Experience performing medical back office tasks, including obtaining vital signs, injections/immunizations, phlebotomy, urinalysis, and administering medications
• Experience performing medical front office tasks, including scheduling appointments, prior authorizations, medication refills, and referrals
