POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior HVAC Systems Engineer will play a crucial role in the design, development, and assessment of HVAC systems specifically tailored for naval vessels. The successful candidate will possess extensive technical knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to guide and develop junior engineers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
  • Direct and manage the design and review process for HVAC systems within shipbuilding initiatives.
  • Ensure that all designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Collaborate effectively with project managers, architects, and other engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of HVAC systems into ship designs.
  • Conduct thorough technical assessments and provide strategic recommendations for system enhancements, cost efficiency, and performance improvements.
  • Lead a team of engineers and technicians, offering mentorship and support to achieve project goals within established timelines and budgets.
  • Review and validate engineering drawings, specifications, and related documentation for HVAC systems.
  • Engage in discussions with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies regarding project specifications, progress, and technical challenges.
  • Stay informed about the latest advancements in HVAC technology and shipbuilding practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in HVAC system design, ideally within the maritime or shipbuilding sector.
  • Alternatively, an Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology combined with 8 years of progressive experience in the engineering field, or a High School Diploma or GED with 9 years of relevant experience.
SKILLS:
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and HVAC design tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC principles, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.
  • Familiarity with classification society rules and regulations (e.g., ABS, DNV, Lloyd's Register) is advantageous.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
