Position Summary:

The IT Support Specialist serves as the primary contact for diagnosing and resolving software and hardware issues faced by computer users throughout the organization. This role involves providing technical assistance to over 400 users across multiple locations utilizing Windows 10, Office 365, and Epicor through two VPNs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, prioritize, and address incoming support requests via trouble tickets, phone calls, emails, and in-person inquiries from users encountering issues with hardware, software, networking, and other IT-related technologies.
  • Document all help desk interactions, track and route issues/requests, and record resolutions in accordance with standard help desk protocols. Generate activity reports as required.
  • Gather detailed information regarding issues and guide users through diagnostic processes to identify the source of errors. Ascertain whether problems stem from hardware components such as modems, printers, cables, or telecommunication devices.
  • Manage problem identification, research, isolation, resolution, and follow-up for routine user issues, escalating more complex problems to supervisors or technical staff as necessary.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all company systems, changes, and updates.
  • Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and install Microsoft Office applications and configure computers using Windows 10 OS.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or Information Technology preferred; equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting within a networked Windows 10 environment, Office 365, and VPN, particularly concerning access rights and connectivity challenges.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with department heads, managers, colleagues, and vendors to resolve issues and negotiate solutions.
  • Availability to work off-shift as required.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in troubleshooting within a manufacturing environment, particularly with ERP systems like Epicor.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team setting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
