About the Role:

The State of Indiana is seeking a highly skilled State Eligibility Consultant to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in determining eligibility for Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families benefits.

As a Public Assistance Policy Specialist, you will be responsible for reviewing eligibility recommendations and information provided by contract staff, making eligibility determinations in compliance with state and federal rules, and conducting full eligibility interviews for applicants.

Our ideal candidate will have a thorough knowledge of public assistance policy, practices, and procedures, as well as federal, state, and local rules and regulations related to public assistance programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Review eligibility recommendations and information provided by contract staff
  • Make eligibility determinations in compliance with state and federal rules
  • Conduct full eligibility interviews for applicants
  • Keep current on all changes in rules, regulations, and guidelines regarding individual benefit programs

Requirements:

  • Thorough knowledge of public assistance policy, practices, and procedures
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local rules and regulations related to public assistance programs
  • Working knowledge of computerized eligibility systems
  • Ability to identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions
  • Ability to use tact and empathy in dealing with people from varied backgrounds
