Job Overview

The Facility Maintenance Specialist is responsible for the upkeep, sanitation, and landscaping of the organization's premises, utilizing eco-friendly cleaning solutions to ensure a healthier environment for all personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in restrooms and bathrooms following established protocols.
  • Dust and clean furniture; manage floor maintenance through sweeping, mopping, or vacuuming; dispose of waste properly; and manage light bulb replacements and restroom supplies.
  • Assist in preparing facilities for various events, including meetings and conferences.
  • Perform floor care activities such as stripping, cleaning, buffing, and applying sealants to hard surfaces, as well as vacuuming and shampooing carpets.
  • Utilize and care for assigned cleaning equipment and tools, including buffers, scrubbers, and vacuums, to maintain floors, walls, and furniture.
  • Wash walls and equipment as needed, employing ladders for high-access areas.
  • Secure buildings by locking and unlocking doors, checking for unauthorized access, and ensuring lights are turned off when not in use.
  • Adhere to guidelines for the use of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
  • Conduct snow and debris removal from walkways and stairs using hand tools or small equipment.
  • Occasionally move furniture and equipment as required.
  • Clean accessible windows and blinds; launder cleaning cloths and dust mops.
  • Respond to emergencies as necessary.
  • Participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
  • Handle recycling materials appropriately.
  • Submit work orders as needed.
  • Support the instruction and oversight of student workers.
  • Assist with inventory management and security measures.
  • Strive to meet performance management objectives.
  • Comply with organizational policies and procedures, including safety practices and quality assurance standards.
  • Exemplify and promote the core values and operational principles of the organization.
  • Mentor and guide students towards employability through consistent support.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in essential duties, including:

  • Knowledge of cleaning equipment, products, and best practices.
  • Attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness and orderliness.

Experience:

Preferred experience ranges from three to six months in a related field.

Education:

A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Certifications:

A valid State Driver's License is necessary.
