Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Law Enforcement Officer to join our team at Texas Tech University. As a key member of our campus security team, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol and Response: Patrol designated areas on foot, by bike, or in a vehicle to observe and detect criminal or suspicious activity, potential hazards, and to respond promptly to calls for assistance.
  • Enforcement and Investigation: Provide basic traffic enforcement, investigate traffic accidents and other accidents, and monitor, note, report, and investigate suspicious persons and situations, safety hazards, and unusual or illegal activity in patrol areas.
  • Arrest and Prosecution: Identify, pursue, and arrest suspects and perpetrators of criminal acts, and testify in court to present evidence or act as a witness in traffic and criminal cases.
  • Community Engagement: Control hostile and non-hostile crowds, including but not limited to, sporting events, demonstrations, rallies, or scenes of various emergencies, and maintain proficiency in the use of police-related equipment and weapons.
Requirements
  • Basic Requirements: Basic Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) license, and meet commissioning standards for Texas Peace Officers as mandated by the Texas Commission of Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Prior law enforcement experience, and proficiency in the use of police-related equipment and weapons.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time, hourly position with a minimum hire rate of $24.65. The schedule will include 10-hour shifts, and the position is not grant-funded.
